Correct YourPosture & Breathing

It is well known that most saxophone players will sound better when they play with better posture. One of the reasons for this is that it allows for much better breathing. As you practice from a seated position usually the instrument will begin to feel heavy and over time, the weight on your neck leads to you leaning forward. This in turn puts pressure on your diaphragm. If your diaphragm is not allowed to release it is much more difficult to breath properly.

The SaxSeat forces you to keep your back straighter while you play, therefore releasing some of the pressure on your diaphragm. This allows you to take in more air but also to breath out in a more controlled way.

Works for Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, Baritones and Even Tubas

We’ve tested the SaxSeat with all different sizes of saxophone and all different ages of player and in every instance it has always made playing significantly easier and more comfortable. Especially with the larger instruments.

For example, the with the tuba, it usually rests on the seat between the player’s because it’s so big and heavy. With the SaxSeat it rests comfortably on the arm, fully supported, allowing the player to concentrate on playing the instrument and not balancing it.

A new way to play the saxophone

We believe the saxophone is a beautiful instrument, so we’re making it more accessible to everyone.

Our mission was to breath new life into the saxophone industry. This is not a new problem, musicians have always struggled with the weight of saxophones, especially the larger ones.

Guided by the goal of extending the life of the saxophonist we used our extensive experience as musicians, designers & metalworkers to create a simple product that solves a big problem.

Fully Adjustable

The Saxseat has been designed to be fully adjustable. Everything from the height of the seat to the angle and rotation of both the instrument arm and cup can be adjusted to suit your needs.

This allows players of any size to play any size of saxophone with comfort and ease.

Ergonomic Design

The Sax Seat provides an ergonomic solution to a long standing problem. The problem being that extended playing sessions with the saxophone can, over time, take it’s toll. The saxophone is a heavy instrument and if you are not playing with good posture you may start to feel the effects in your neck and back.

The Sax Seat solves this issue completely by supporting the whole weight of the instrument the entire time. Allowing you to play freely while simultaneously correcting your posture.

Verified by a Chiropractor

To make sure that what we have made would actually be helpful instead of harmful we took it to a chiropractor to get his opinion.

A saxophonist has to hold a saxophone weighing on average 3.5 kilos, for an extended period of time sitting or standing. Doing this for only 10 to 15 minutes, the weight begins to feel to the person as much as 20 kilos. This results in straining the arms, shoulders, head, neck, and lower back. It is common to find saxophonists using ‘side’ chairs that have straight and solid backs, while they are playing …

… An old patient of mine with 35 year experience as a saxophonist, Kostas Efesopoulos, has created a wonderful invention to help solve the issue with saxophone player’s posture. He has invented a stool with a lever that provides proper support for the saxophone. This support is provided when the saxophonist is resting the instrument on the lever of the stool, the stool base also brings the saxophone to the correct height for the player. There is not currently a product on the market that supports the weight of the player as well as the weight of the saxophone simultaneously.

Suitable for All Ages

The Sax Seat is a fully adjustable piece of equipment. We’ve designed it in such a way in that it enables just about anyone to comfortably play the saxophone.

The seat is adjustable in height so that no matter how tall or short the player is they are able to sit comfortably and with correct posture.

It also enables people to play any type of saxophone they want. For some people, playing a tenor or baritone sax would be quite difficult due to their larger size and subsequently larger weight. But with the Sax Seat supporting the entire weight of the instrument they become much more accessible to anyone.

Always Improving

Since the first prototype of the SaxSeat we have been making adjustments and improvements every day. So that when it’s finally released to the public it is already a solid product that performs as advertised.

We will continue to make improvements and changes until we are satisfied that we’ll be delivering the best possible product to our customers.
